About
Tell their story
Jonathan is currently a Multiskilled Journalist and the Sunday evening anchor/producer for WQAD News 8, the ABC station in the Quad Cities (Davenport/Bettendorf IA, Moline/Rock Island IL). He started in the Quad Cities after graduating from Eastern Illinois University in 2022, with B.A. Music Composition, B.A. Audio/Recording Technology, Anthropology Minor and Digital Media Minor. While at WQAD, Jonathan has been at the forefront of breaking news and team coverage, along with human interest and character-driven stories. Some of the biggest stories include the 2023 Davenport apartment collapse and the Perry High School shooting in Perry, Iowa. Much of Jonathan's reporting is focused on telling character stories. From the 9-year-old BMX world racer, to a young couple finding hope after a house fire, to the Thai auntie keeping her restaurant going after 20 years of business — there is always a great story to tell, and an incredible privilege and honor in sharing their story with the world. Artistic endeavors For most of his life, Jonathan focused on music; however, he has dabbled in a little bit of everything: from game design and programming, to illustration, graphic design, and 3D artwork, video and live broadcasting. Most of his compositions are motivically driven program music. While most of his training is in composing traditional concert music, he has always been interested in scoring for film, games, and other media. Recently, electronic music has been a new focus. Education background While at EIU, Jonathan worked for the PBS-affiliated WEIU-TV, serving as a news anchor, assistant producer and journalist for the Emmy® Award Winning show News Watch. He also served as on-air talent for the Hit-Mix 88.9 WEIU radio station. Additionally, Jonathan performed in the Eastern Symphony Orchestra and assisted the EIU Department of Music with video editing and music arranging/copyist work. |
